HOLIDAY CAN BE SO BEAUTIFUL

“Steinbock Challenge” throws down the gauntlet

On 24th August 2019, the new "Arlberg Steinbock Challenge" will celebrate its premiere in St. Anton/Tyrol. Mountain bike aficionados have 57 kilometres and 2,500 metres in altitude difference to surmount between the village centre, St. Jakob, Verwallsee and Moostal in this hardcore competition, where the name is in fact the game, as “Steinbock” means alpine ibex in English.

The "Steinbock Challenge" has already secured the reputation of being St. Anton am Arlberg's toughest MTB challenge, with its constant switches between ascent and descent.

Pro and ambitious recreational athletes aged 16 and over can compete. There is an additional category for e-bikers. Info and registration under www.stantonamarlberg.com

High performances with an animal theme

From time to time you can observe alpine ibex in the wild, as they roam the mountains of St. Anton am Arlberg. Every powerful movement of these self-confident animals seems extraordinarily light-footed. Participants of the new "Arlberger Steinbock Challenge" on 24th August 2019 will have to follow their example - as this exhausting tour will take even the most experienced bikers to their limits. A combination of power and endurance is needed to take the athletes over 57.6 kilometres in distance and almost 2,500 metres in elevation difference to the Putzenalpe. Verwall and Moostal Valleys. Finally, they must head up to the mountain station of the Rendlbahn, the highest point of the route at the foot of the Zwölferkopf (2,069 metres), where panoramic views compensate for the arduous climb. The race begins and ends in the pedestrian zone in St. Anton am Arlberg.
