HOLIDAY CAN BE SO BEAUTIFUL

Summit for gourmets

Traditional “Kaiserschmarrn” or bouillabaisse, famous celebrity chefs or Tyrolean family recipes - the culinary offerings from St. Anton am Arlberg are just as diverse as its ski slopes. No less than eight restaurants are listed in the Gault-Millau 2020 edition with 118.5 points and 22 toques, meaning this international winter sports destination continues to offer its guests the highest standards of haute cuisine. More recent award winners include Hotel Gletscherblick (3 toques) and Sonnbichl Stube (1 toque). Hotel Tannenhof, on the other hand, is well known far beyond the borders of Austria and was bestowed with 4 toques this year. And those who prefer simpler fare, can remain true to the popular Tyrolean delicacies.

Publishers of the Gault Millau Guide have featured Hotel Tannenhof and its restaurant, led by head chef James Baron, on their leader-board for years. For the first time this year, the hotel can boast of receiving four toques (18 points) for its “Creative Alpine Kitchen.” Connoisseurs of fine wines can stop by at the Hospizalm (3 toques), where they will find Adi Werner's top class wine collection directly next to the St. Christoph ski slope. His famous wine cellar is home to precious rarities, including around 2,900 large-format bottles that hold up to 27 litres of valuable Bordeaux wines – one of the world’s most impressive collections.

The Verwallstube on Mount Galzig presents an exclusive counterpart to classic ski huts: once there, skiers can savour culinary specialities at elegantly set tables. Gault-Millau 2020 awarded the mountain restaurant, which can only be reached by gondola or on skis, with a coveted three toques and 15 points. The Alte Stube in Hotel Schwarzer Adler is now the proud bearer of two toques (13.5 points). Hospiz Gourmet Restaurant at Arlberg Hospiz, Alpin Gourmet Stube at Hotel Gletscherblick, Raffl's Stubn at Hotel St. Antoner Hof (3 toques) as well as the Sonnbichl Stube (1 toque) were all delighted to receive further awards.

A total of eight restaurants from St. Anton am Arlberg were recognised in the 2020 edition of the Gault-Milau Guide:
