Arrival to Lech

The journey to the ski metropolis of Lech is possible by car, plane, train, bus or taxi. Depending on the travel route, there are different ways to get there, and the public transport network can also be optimally used to get to Lech.

Car

No matter which direction you come from: Lech, located in the province of Vorarlberg, is easily accessible by car in many ways. Enter the following address in your route planner: A-6764 Lech (Vorarlberg, Austria).

Many roads lead to Lech:
  • Via Davos - Scuol - Nauders - Pfunds - Landeck - St. Anton am Arlberg - to Lech.
  • Via Zurich - Winterthur - Dornbirn - Feldkirch - Bludenz - to Lech
  • Via Stuttgart - Ulm - Memmingen - Kempten - Reutte - Elbigenalp - Warth - to Lech
    When planning your journey, please note that the road between Lech and Warth is usually closed during the winter months! Many navigation devices do not show this winter closure!
  • Via Salzburg - Kufstein - Innsbruck - Landeck - to Lech
  • Via Stuttgart - Bregenz - Feldkirch - Bludenz - Arlbergpass or Arlbergtunnel - to Lech
  • Via Zurich - St. Gallen or Sargans - Feldkirch - Bludenz - Arlberg Pass or Arlberg Tunnel - to Lech

Note: Austrian motorways and motorways are subject to tolls. Vignettes are available at the border crossings at petrol stations, post offices, tobacconists and your automobile club. Winter tyres are compulsory in Austria from 1 November to 15 April. Snow chains are compulsory in wintry road conditions such as snow, slush or ice. It is therefore recommended that you take snow chains with you. 

Aeroplane

If you are travelling by plane, the following airports are the closest: You can then travel on to Lech by train, bus or one of our regional taxi companies.

Train

There is a train station in Langen am Arlberg, about 15 kilometres from Lech. This corresponds to about 20 minutes by car. As a railjet station, all international express trains stop here, including the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express. You can then continue your journey to Lech by bus or one of our regional taxi companies.

Alternatively, you can travel to the railway station in St. Anton am Arlberg. This is approx. 20 km from Lech and corresponds to a 30-minute drive. As a railjet station, all international express trains stop here, including the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express. You can then travel on to Lech by bus or one of our regional taxi companies.

Shuttle service with Arlberg Express

Personentransporte Arlberg Express is located in Langen am Arlberg and is, therefore, the ideal hub between the winter sports resorts of Lech, Zürs, Stuben, St. Christoph am Arlberg and St. Anton am Arlberg as well as the surrounding airports and railway stations in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy. The offer includes comfortable arrival and departure from/to Arlberg by shuttle bus or taxi transfer.

Transfer Zurich Airport - Arlberg 
Once you have arrived at Zurich Airport, you can continue your journey in comfort with the Arlberg Express airport transfer. The shuttle bus runs at different times and on different days of the week from Zurich Airport to Hohenems, Bludenz, Klösterle, Stuben, Zürs, Lech, St. Christoph and St. Anton am Arlberg and back again. In the winter season, there are 5 lines, in the summer season 1 line.

Taxi transfer
If you prefer a taxi transfer to the nearest airport or train station, no problem! The Arlberg Express shuttle service operates in summer and winter. Simply call, get in and off you go! The prices for passenger transport by taxi for max. 17 people from/to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy can be found on the Arlberg Express website under Taxi Transfer & Shuttle Service. Bus

The James bus transfer, for which a charge is made, runs between the holiday villages of Lech - Zürs - Oberlech and Zug in the evening and early morning hours from 19:30 to 03:00.
